Fine Art at Astor is defined simply as drawing and painting. Therefore the teaching at all the Key Stages is concerned with the students improving their skills and knowledge in producing two dimensional work. Students begin with basic colour theory, perspective, and working from other artists’ drawing and paintings.
When students decide they want to take their studies further the work then becomes more ambitious and concentrated. At GCSE students work up to A1 size using watercolours and graphic media and at A level students often produce huge compositions with acrylic paint on canvas.
